Sweetgrass Picking

Join us as we venture out to gather sweetgrass in Southern Alberta. Elder Ruby Eaglechild will be joining us and sharing about the cultural significance of sweetgrass and respectful protocols for its harvesting and use.

This gathering offers:

• Wisdom from Elder Ruby Eaglechild: Gain insights into the cultural significance and medicine of sweetgrass and proper harvesting techniques to ensure its sustainability.
• Mindful Connection with Nature: Enjoy a walk through a beautiful natural setting while gathering sweetgrass.
• Community and Sharing: Learn alongside a supportive group of women*

Please Note:

• This gathering requires a carpool journey. We'll meet at Chinook C-Train Station and travel together for 1.5 hours south of Calgary to the harvesting location. A gas card will be offered for carpool participants.
• A picnic lunch will be provided. Please note, that we are unable to accomodate dietary restrictions at this time. If you have dietary needs, please ensure you bring your own lunch.

What to Bring:

• Comfortable walking shoes (closed toe) and weather-appropriate clothing (hat, sunscreen, water bottle).
• A sense of respect and reverence for the land and the teachings shared by Ruby
• A long skirt or ribbon skirt is mandatory for this gathering.
