About the event
Cultivating Compassion aims to create awareness and understanding of Indigenous histories on the lands now known as Canada. As we live, learn, and grow on these lands, it is our responsibility to have an understanding of why reconciliation is important and how we can engage in it. Join us in learning ways to become active in pathways to reconciliation and responsible decolonization as individuals, communities, and businesses.
Elder Ruby Eaglechild will be joining us for this gathering to share her wisdom and offer insight on the topics discussed.
This evening we will be going through the following topics:
- What cultural-linguistic, spiritual, scientific, social, and economic practices were in place prior to "first contact?
- Why is Indigenous pedagogy important?
- Seven Sacred Teachings and their importance in understanding what was lost
- Linear and circular thinking
