About the event
Cultivating Compassion aims to create awareness and understanding of Indigenous histories on the lands now known as Canada. As we live, learn, and grow on these lands, it is our responsibility to have an understanding of why reconciliation is important and how we can engage in it. Join us in learning ways to become active in pathways to reconciliation and responsible decolonization as individuals, communities, and businesses.
Please note this is four-module series. While you are more than welcome to attend as you can, we highly encourage attendance to all four modules as the content builds on what is shared each week. If you miss one - no worries - we are all here to learn together.
Elder Ruby Eaglechild will be joining us for this gathering to share her wisdom and offer insight on the topics discussed.
This evening we will be going through the following topics:
What is colonization?
How did colonization affect the existing cultures and Peoples of this land? What was lost?
What colonial practices are still taking place?
